ere, for the first time, are photographs

from the Other Side of the Vietnam war, taken by Viet Cong, North Vietnamese Army, and civilian photographers, in all corners of wartime Vietnam.

This website is a companion to the 240-page National Geographic book entitled Another Vietnam: Pictures of the War from the Other Side, published in 2002. None of these photographs have ever been published outside Vietnam, and most were never even seen inside the country.

Altogether this book project was the culmination of more than five years' work, locating ex-war photographers, printing and scanning old negatives, and meeting with Communist bureaucrats.

By clicking on the many images here you will be able to get a glimpse of what the war looked and felt like on the other side...
